last night

i saw this theatre at istana budaya. overall, 1/5. there was nothing wrong with the actors but the plot could have more depth and substance. we know already what happened to natrah during the trial and shortly after that. i think what we want to know is the aftermath. her ordeal to adjust in a new country, religion, language alien to her. how she lived her life with other 13 kids under the same roof. her teenhood, her marriage, her death. also, how mansor and che aminah survived after natrah's departure to holland. because we have very little info about these things and we wanna know more.

however, i salute the director for being able to capture the emotion of natrah's biological mother. too often we forget that the love of a birth mother towards her child never dies. when adeline gave maria up to aminah, she did it with her hands tied. she struggled to raise six kids alone in an intern camp while her husband was imprisoned. such was a tough life. adeline claimed that she gave maria to aminah for only a few days but the girl was never returned to her. this triggers me to ask this question - is it logical to give away ur kid for few days only? one might wonder with everything that was happening in her life, it couldn't be that adeline intended for aminah to take care of maria for a few days. i would have given at least three kids (since i have six) if i need my friend to look after them for "a few days". but i'd give only one if i need my friend to take care of my child for a longer time. i'm not saying that adeline wanted maria to be converted into a muslim, but to say that she surrended maria with the intention to be in care for several days is quite questionable.

the netherlander's version was that aminah abducted maria. this could be true, since aminah didn't have any kids. if u couldn't have ur own and had the opportunity to raise one, u might do everything within ur power to do so. and to ensure that the child remains with u, the next best thing is to flee far far away.

oh, how i love conspiracy theory.

lol, I just can't get past the cheesy poster where you can see Sofia Jane's 3 inches of make up intended to make her look old but succeeded in making her look like a young person with 3 inches of make up.

glad to know you're immersing yourself in the culture Tun. ;) not to mention the conspiracy.

I saw a play too the other day (meaning, 6 weeks ago), The Importance of Being Earnest. That was quite brilliant, I'd give it 5/5. If you ever have the chance to, watch it!
